Guitarist Tom Morello ( Rage Against The Machine, Prophets Of Rage, Audioslave ) spoke in an interview about his solo album. He said he intends to "create a new genre of rock n' roll" with Atlas Underground .
Morello spoke with Full Metal Jackie about his new work. “I think Atlas Underground speaks more openly about human problems. The theme of the album is social justice. We are telling stories of martyrs from the past to inform about the struggles of the present. Hopefully illuminating the path to a more humane and just future,” he said.
“The album features artists from diverse genres, ethnicities, ages, and musical styles. That, at this point, is already a major statement,” he continued. “I really wanted to create an album that was a sonic conspiracy. That brought together these diverse artists with the great ambition of creating a new genre of rock n' roll. Something where you could recognize my riffs and my sound, but hear them in a completely different way.”
