The takeover of Afghanistan by the extremist group Taliban is something the world has been following with great attention and distress. The powerful images of citizens trying to escape the country and the group's terrorist offensives to prevent evacuation are serious events that have worried even names in music, such as Tom Morello .

Rage Against The Machine guitarist John Morello wrote an open letter appealing for help to evacuate a number of girls from Afghanistan, whose basic rights are threatened by Taliban rule. The action came in support of Morello's friend, Lanny Cordola , who runs the Girl With a Guitar program, a music school for girls that was destroyed by the extremist group.

According to NME , in his letter, Tom Morello states that these girls are in “grave danger” and are currently hiding from the Taliban. “[ Girl With a Guitar ] shelters homeless orphans and other girls who have experienced significant trauma and use music as a rehabilitation tool and a means of coping with their problems, their stories, and their hopes. I have had the honor of collaborating with these wonderful children,” Morello wrote.

“They are in extreme danger because they are very well known for performing Western music and being educated by an American teacher. Anything you can do to save them will be greatly appreciated,” the guitarist concluded.
