Tom Morello highlighted the new band Kneecap as a contemporary act that is continuing the legacy of his band Rage Against The Machine .

In a recent interview with The Strombo Show , Tom Morello talked about some modern bands that are conveying the same message he conveys in his music [transcription seen by Ultimate Guitar ]:

“The most recent one is a hip hop duo from San Diego called The Neighborhood Kids , and they definitely have a touch of Rage Against the Machine. But they rap about lived experiences, and they really want to say it in a way that makes you kind of think, ‘Thank God, someone has the courage to say that.’ And in the UK, Nova Twins is a group I really like, they’re a young band.”

Then the interviewer mentioned Kneecap, an Irish hip hop trio that was recently accused of terrorism for one of their performances. Tom replied: “At the top of the list. I mean, they’re clearly the Rage Against the Machine of now. But [after them], there’s a gap to the next one.”

Shortly after, the guitarist explained what fans should do besides waiting for a new Rage Against the Machine: “In my opinion, Rage Against the Machine's music still serves its purpose. I hear it in the streets, I see it on billboards and everything else. But sitting around waiting for Rage Against the Machine… You should form your own band. You should do what you want. In your job, you should be furious against the system.”
