Yesterday, November 6th, the United States Capitol was convening for the final vote count in the US election, which saw Democrat Joe Biden win and prevent the re-election of Republican Donald Trump . However, the world was surprised by an intense invasion of the politician's supporters, who entered official government buildings unharmed (including with Vice President Mike Pence present), carrying weapons, flags related to white supremacy, and " Make America Great Again" .
The action shocked the world, and many rock and metal artists took to social media to express their opinions on the situation; see some of them below:
Tom Morello : "Makes you think…", he replied to a tweet showing the police presence at the Capitol during the Black Lives Matter , a security that was completely lacking at yesterday's event.
Paul Stanley : “These people are TERRORISTS. It’s an armed insurrection. The flames were fanned today and over time by specific presidents and senators who CANNOT delay in distancing themselves or being denounced for what they directly caused. Know their names. THIS is the result of their deception. Shame.”
Mike Portnoy : "What's happening right now is absolutely disgusting and repulsive... I pray for everyone's safety."
Sebastian Bach : “You are one of the stupidest pieces of shit to ever walk the Earth. People are there to support you, you fucking idiot,” he wrote in response to Texas Senator Ted Cruz .
Mark Morton : “When Black Lives Matter were marching on Confederate monuments here in Richmond, they were being met with batons and tear gas. These guys are literally being allowed to CLIMB the Capitol building, lol.”
Alex Skolnick : “Okay, the capital of the United States is under quarantine. A mob of angry anarchists, worse than they say antifascists are. Lafayette Square was quickly cleared by the authorities in an instant for a photo op of the Bible, and yet these people are being allowed to populate everything here? Where is the army? The National Guard?” “This is insanity on another level.”
Robb Flynn : "Fuck those traitors," in response to Skolnick's video.
Anti-Flag : "Fuck racism, fuck fascism. Fuck nationalism."
