Tom Morello kept busy with a variety of projects in 2021. The Rage Against The Machine collaborated with The Pretty Reckless and Pussy Riot and recently released an EP with the electro-punk group The Bloody Beetroots called The Catastrophists .

After revealing he was working on a song with Alex Lifeson and Kirk Hammett , Morello has now announced that his new album is called The Atlas Underground Fire and will be released on October 15th. As a preview, the guitarist released a cover of the AC/DC Highway to Hell ,” featuring powerful vocals by Eddie Vedder and Bruce Springsteen . “One of the best rock 'n' roll songs of all time, sung by two of the best rock 'n' roll singers of all time,” said Morello.

In addition to Vedder and Springsteen, the album The Atlas Underground Fire features guest appearances from names like Chris Stapleton , Mike Posner , Damian Marley , Bring Me The Horizon , and Dennis Lyxzén of Refused .

“During quarantine I didn’t have access to a sound engineer, so I had to record all the guitar parts over the vocal notes on my phone,” said Tom Morello. “It seemed like an absurd idea, but it gave me creative freedom because I couldn’t keep overthinking every solo, I had to trust my instincts.”
