Tom Morello

Tom Morello is the son of Ngethe Njoroge and Mary Morello . His mother is a historian and university professor of Italian and Irish descent, and his father was Kenya's first ambassador to the UN.

Born Thomas Baptist Morello on May 30, 1964, in New York, he is a guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, and political activist. Throughout his career, he has managed to combine all his skills in a variety of different projects.

A Harvard graduate in Political Science, Tom Morello always practiced guitar and dreamed of a life in rock. Some time after graduating, in 1991, he formed Rage Against the Machine with vocalist Zack de la Rocha , bassist and backing vocalist Tim Commerford , and drummer Brad Wilk . Together they released four studio albums, always focused on political activism.

When Zack left, the band began playing with Chris Cornell , thus forming Audioslave . The band's sound was created by combining 70s hard rock with 90s alternative rock, making them one of the most relevant bands in the movement. After three studio albums, Chris Cornell left, bringing the band to an end.

While in Audioslave, Morello also pursued the solo project The Nightwatchman , which he says is his political alter-ego.

In 2017, the guitarist formed Prophets of Rage , a rap rock group with Tim Commerford, Brad Wilk, DJ Lord and Chuck D of Public Enemy , and B-Real of Cypress Hill. Together, they released an EP and a studio album.

With his solo career, Morello has released four studio albums to date: The Atlas Underground (2018), Comandante (2020), The Atlas Underground Fire (2021), and The Atlas Underground Flood (2021).

Now, the musician continues his career with Rage Against the Machine, who were on a reunion tour until they had to cancel after a serious injury to vocalist Zack de la Rocha , in addition to participating in various side projects such as the song "Gossip" by Måneskin , the production of the Netflix film Metal Lords
