Tom Morello , former guitarist of Rage Against the Machine and music activist, attended Hellfest 2024 in Clisson, France. There, he took the opportunity to call on his fans and headbangers to engage as "agents of history."
"You are not witnesses to history; you are agents of history," he said.
According to the website Consequence Heavy , during a press conference at the festival, Morello highlighted that the world needs active change, not passivity. He stressed that global challenges are surmountable if people take responsibility and act to create a more just and sustainable world.
Morello also reflected on his career and the burden of his musical calling, expressing that although he sometimes feels "stagnant" because of the guitar, it is through it that he seeks to influence social change.
The artist encouraged everyone, regardless of their position or profession, to fight against injustices in all areas of life.
Meanwhile, Morello still has shows scheduled for 2024, including dates in Europe and a concert in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in September of this year.
Last week, he released a new single, "Soldier in the Army of Love," which features his son, Roman Morello .
