Tom Hunting, from Exodus, wins battle against cancer: "He's a rock"

Gary Holt shared an update on the musician's health on social media.

Tom Hunting , drummer for Exodus , has won his battle against cancer! At 65 years old, the musician was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma in his stomach , a type of gastric tumor, in February of this year.

Hunting's treatment began in April and culminated in a gastrectomy to remove the affected part of the musician's stomach. He has been at home for a week and is recovering.

The wonderful news of his recovery was shared by Gary Holt , the band's guitarist, on social media. "He's doing great despite the pain, he's eating solid food and adjusting to a new relationship with food and a new way of eating," wrote his bandmate. "But he's a rock in all of this, incredibly strong and he's going to crush it! And he's cancer-free!"

According to Holt, it's only "a matter of time" before the drummer returns to activities as a member of Exodus. "He still needs to heal, but he's on the road to recovery. The final chemotherapy sessions are still to be done," he explained.

In July, Hunting personally updated fans on the positive results of the treatment . “I am overflowing with gratitude and feel so blessed to be a part of this community we share. (…) FUCK CANCER! Speaking of fuck cancer, the treatment is working. I went through 4 [procedures] and the size [of the tumor] has shrunk to less than half of what it was in March. That’s incredible progress! I’ve regained the weight I lost at the beginning of all this,” he wrote at the time.

We wish you a speedy recovery, Tom!
