Exodus drummer Tom Hunting clarified on Wednesday, the 28th, some misinformation about his battle with cancer.
Earlier in the week, his bandmate Gary Holt posted a statement on his Instagram page claiming that Hunting was "cancer-free." The news was celebrated by fans, especially as it came just days after stated that the treatment results were positive.
However, Hunting has now clarified that it is a bit "presumptuous" to assume that he is completely cancer-free, but he did not blame Holt for the misunderstanding, admitting that he himself may have gotten "excited" when passing on the news to his friend.
“I had a full gastrectomy on July 12th. I’ve been healing well, relearning my relationship with food, [eating] smaller portions at longer intervals, lots of protein, etc. The science behind it all continues to amaze me daily. Like, how can anyone even walk around two weeks after surgery? HAHA!!”, she wrote.
“The doctors had a good plan, they went through with it and told me everything was under control!! Sounds great to me!! But it’s presumptuous to say I’m cancer-free at this point. I really hope to make that statement in person soon, but let’s not jinx the process! I’m still in the middle of this battle. The worst part is over and I still have 4 more chemotherapy sessions left. After that, I’ll have another scan which we hope will show that the cancer’s ass has been removed from my body and kicked out the door!! Can’t wait to see you all again and play new Exodus songs live!! Much love!!”
We are rooting for Tom's speedy recovery and positive results from his treatments.
