Tom Hamilton, bassist for Aerosmith, talks about the band's future.

Musician states: "It will not include tours"

Tom Hamilton , bassist for Aerosmith , in an exclusive interview with Charlie Kendall 's Metalshop Steven Tyler 's vocal cord problems , the end of the band's live performances , and what to expect from the future.

It all began in September 2023, during the Peace Out . At the third show, Steven Tyler suffered a serious laryngeal fracture, but despite the severity, he finished the performance. Although he dedicated himself to recovery, the injury prevented Tyler from returning to the stage.

“The decision to end the tours was very difficult,” Hamilton stated. “But Steven’s health is our top priority. He’s a fighter and did everything he could to come back, but unfortunately it wasn’t possible.”

He continued: “The decision was made by the team, which includes the band and our dedicated management… We don’t know what the future holds, but it will not include touring.”

Substitute vocalist

The band also ruled out the possibility of finding a replacement for Tyler: “There haven’t been any talks about it. I can’t imagine Aerosmith without Steven.”

Despite the end of touring, Hamilton spoke about his plans in music: “I’m sure we all have music in our future and it will manifest itself in ways we haven’t planned yet,” he added. “I’ve been playing in a band with some good friends. We have a lot of really good songs and we hope to release them soon and, who knows, do some shows.”
