The story is already well-known: Pe Lu , former guitarist and singer of Restart , commented last week about not understanding the political stance of some Brazilian rock musicians. Specifically, the one mentioned was the vocalist of Raimundos , Digão .

Digão responded on social media by posting a screenshot of the headline. “My friend, you should be disappointed in yourself. My musical history is still playing everywhere today while you're there needing to 'shut down' someone to remember your existence.”

Pe Lu defended himself against the statement on his Twitter, but Digão still preferred to extend the discussion and even added other artists to the conversation.

Once again on his Instagram, the guitarist posted a new screenshot, with a fan praising a song. In the caption, he wrote (tagging the profiles of the people mentioned): “Who are you, Pe Lu, Tico Santa Cruz , João Gordo and Lucas Silveira and all the other JERKS who call me a 'reactionary rocker'? If you don't awaken this feeling in this fan through your music.”

Tico Santa Cruz, vocalist of Detonautas , decided to speak out. The musician had a brief stint with Raimundos between 2009 and 2010.

In a live broadcast on his Instagram, after being tagged in story , he defended Pe Lu and stated that it is indeed true that Digão "pressed 17 [to vote for Bolsonaro] and identifies with all this nonsense that these reactionaries are doing."

Furthermore, he also mentioned that he regrets the criticism he made of Restart during their golden age of "colorful" music.

The artist emphasizes that it is absurd to hear the lead singer of Raimundos talking about "a sample of communism" during the current pandemic.

Tico also passed on the following message to Digão:

“What I have to say to Digão is: first of all, you're a fucking wimp. […] [Pe Lu] spoke the truth, reactionary rockers don't fit in. Rockers who associate with authoritarian, fundamentalist, denialist regimes, who support early treatment without any care, who promote gatherings, who don't wear masks… you identify with that shit, you just don't have the courage to say it.”

"You live with a bunch of rich, millionaire people from Brasília, you've lost touch with reality. [...] It's no use putting on a tough face, playing heavy guitar. [...] That only hides the fake rebelliousness you have."

At other points during the live stream, Tico Santa Cruz praised other band members, especially Canisso . According to him, he also has a lot of affection for the bassist, as well as Marquim and Caio . However, his relationship with Digão hadn't been the same for some time.

Regarding Rodolfo Arantes , he stated that he respects him and believes that he is a genuine and honest person in everything he does.

As things progress, it's easy to see that there's a strong possibility of other artists taking a stand on the issue, regardless of which side they're on.
