The soundtrack is one of the most essential parts of a film! Few things are as well-remembered as that memorable moment in a scene with the perfect music. But how much does it cost to add music to a movie?

The answer varies, but one thing we know for sure: the most expensive song in the world is a hard rock classic that has been featured in several superhero movies such as Deadpool 2 (2017), Thor: Ragnarok (2017), and Battleship (2012). This has been revealed before, but the topic resurfaced in a viral video by an influencer named Daniel Wall , posted on TikTok .

We're talking about "Thunderstruck" by AC/DC . This is the most striking example because the fees to add a song to a film usually range between $15,000 and $60,000, but according to Wall, AC/DC's hit demanded no less than half a million dollars.

This amount was actually what was paid for the 1999 film Varsity Blues , meaning that prices today must be much higher. The film's audio supervisor, Thomas Golubic, says he was "horrified" by the price of music at the time .

In addition to the examples already mentioned, "Thunderstruck" has also appeared in the films Daddy's Home 1 and 2 , Iron Man 2 (2010), Delivery Man (2013) and The Longest Yard (2005).
