See how 'The Wikimetal Happy Hour' went with Sharon Den Adel from Within Temptation.

The chat with the vocalist included information about her collaboration with Evanescence, memories of Brazilian tours, and her musical childhood.

Last Thursday, the 14th, Within Temptation , Sharon Den Adel , spoke with Nando Machado on the 10th episode of The Wikimetal Happy Hour , and we've compiled some of the best moments from that chat, check it out!

Sharon began by telling Nando that she was a little tired because she and the band were finishing the new music video for the single , "Entertain You ," which should be released soon. The new song, answering fans' questions, does indeed show a new artistic direction for the band, which is always looking to change and explore.

The singer also commented on the quarantine, during which all shows and festivals were postponed until next year, and the tour with Evanescence was no exception. However, the tour was rescheduled for the end of September, a date that Sharon believes is somewhat difficult to actually happen, considering that there is no vaccine for COVID-19.

Nando comments to Sharon about his Brazilian fans, and the artist says she's impressed by the passion Brazilians have for music, and that this is our main claim to fame. Regarding a future tour, she unfortunately doesn't have any new plans to bring Within Temptation to Brazil at the moment.

Regarding Sharon's participation in the massive Together At Home , a project by the WHO, Global Citizen , and singer Lady Gaga , she recounts that the microphone was passed from hand to hand, from Chris Martin of Coldplay to Amy Lee of Evanescence , who recommended her for the initiative.

Nando asks the singer if women will save rock n' roll , considering an article that claims that nowadays, most people buying guitars are women. Sharon loves this idea, but believes the industry still has too many men, but she's happy that all the women in rock are, in a way, planting a seed of good in the minds of all young girls around the world about how they can be anything they want, including rock stars.

When talking about great artists, Nando asks her about her early inspirations when she wanted to become an artist. Sharon says that it might be surprising, but the first record she bought was from the movie Grease , because she loved the voice of actress Olivia Newton-John . Den Adel also shares that her home was always highly musical, which obviously influenced her, so much so that her parents gave her her first allowance just to spend on records.

Regarding a series of covers that Within Temptation performed in 2013, with unusual choices of artists like Bruno Mars, Imagine Dragons , and Lana Del Rey , the singer says she doesn't remember if any of those singers contacted her to give their opinion on the covers. Nando reinforces that this series only proves how music has no boundaries.

Answering some fan questions, Sharon spoke about the importance of fan clubs in her career, saying they are very important, especially in the beginning, as they spread the word to people who have never heard of the band. She also talked about the possibility of recording the tour they will be doing with Evanescence, and that they haven't decided yet, as the future is uncertain regarding which companies and productions will still be operating after the pandemic.

In another fan question, Sharon answers about the inspiration behind the track “Aquarius,” from her 2014 album, The Silent Force . The artist says the song is about her love-hate relationship (and fear since childhood, due to the movie Jaws ) with the sea. A fan asks if an acoustic version of “Ice Queen,” from the 2000 album Mother Earth , will be released, and Sharon said that it most likely won't.

One of the fans' dreams, a collaboration between Within Temptation and Evanescence, will it happen? The singer says they've already talked about it, and that it would be incredible, but they'd like it to happen spontaneously, and that this would be better for them and for the fans.

Nando asked Den Adel about the Brazilian band Ego Kill Talent , who opened some of the band's shows, and Sharon said that she didn't know the members very well, but that she loved their sound and the fans also liked it a lot, and appreciated Within Temptation's gesture of choosing a new band to open their shows.

Nando shows a photo of Chris Cornell from Soundgarden , who died 3 years ago, and Sharon says she saw him at Graspop Metal once and was amazed by his voice. She also says that his death makes her deeply sad because she was always a big fan.

Showing a photo of one of the greatest female representatives of rock, Joan Jett , Sharon says that she loves her most famous songs, and that she used to dance a lot to them, but that she doesn't know much about her new projects, but that she should.

When Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden appears as the next photo Nando shows, Sharon says it's impossible for any guy who likes metal not to be in love with Bruce.

Sharon mentions that she doesn't know Andre Matos personally, but she knows the bands he's played in. Regarding Brazilian music, she doesn't know much about it, but she said she made a point of buying a record of traditional Brazilian music to take home, and that she always listens to it during the summer.

Regarding her memories of Brazil, Sharon says she has been to the country four times, and that she has gone on fun road trips to several places, frequented bars at night, and even visited small record stores where nobody recognized them.

Towards the end of the conversation, the singer mentions that she created a workout playlist on Spotify , which includes many bands she loves and is listening to during quarantine. To check out Sharon's selection, click here .
