The Who have announced that they will release a live album titled Live at the Fillmore East 1968. As the name suggests, the release will feature a recording of a concert that took place in New York in the 1960s.
The performance became historic due to its date. The band had scheduled four shows over two days, April 5th and 6th of that year, but two of them were canceled due to the terror that followed the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King on April 4th.
Deciding to play one set per night, the band recorded their performance, but due to a technical problem, the recording was not completed. Now, years after the historic show, the material has been restored, remastered, and mixed by The Who's longtime engineer, Bob Pridden.
The Who Live At The Fillmore East 1968 will be released on April 20th by UMC as a double CD and triple vinyl record, accompanied by a 12-page booklet full of notes and photos of the band.
The first CD will feature a remastered recording of the show, and the second will include a 30-minute session of "My Generation," one of The Who's biggest hits.
