The Who announces tour to end their career.

The band will celebrate its 50th anniversary.

The Who's frontman, Pete Townshend, has announced his final world tour, which is expected to conclude in 2015.

The band, which has already announced several "Final Tours," the first of which was over 30 years ago, wants to take advantage of its 50th anniversary to end its activities.

“To celebrate our 50th anniversary as a band, we’re going on a world tour. It will be our last big tour. There are many places we haven’t played yet. It will be great to go to Eastern Europe and other places that haven’t seen us playing our old hits.”

This week, a documentary showing the "making of" the classic rock opera "Tommy" will be shown in England. In addition to the film, in November the band will release a super-deluxe version that will include demo versions and unreleased recordings from the 1969 album.
