The rock band The Velvicks releases their new single “Old Mistakes” this Friday, the 18th. The group, formed by Brazilians who now live in New York, continues with their energetic and captivating sound, with influences from indie and alternative rock.

The track's structure is based on a repetition of the same four chords, but this is by no means redundant. Quite the opposite: the changes in instrument layers, dynamics, and intensity build a unique energy, culminating in an explosive and cathartic ending.

Fans who have been to one of the band's shows will recognize the song. "Old Mistakes" was already part of the setlist on the band's various tours in the United States and is usually a highlight of the performances due to its strong impact. Therefore, it was important that this energy was also present in the recording: 

“We produced and recorded the music ourselves, and we chose a very organic approach,” says Vick Nader , the band's vocalist. “Everything you hear on the recording was designed to be replicated on stage.”
