Released on November 1st, The Cure , Songs Of A Lost World , reached number one on the British charts after 32 years. This achievement broke a three-decade drought, previously held by the acclaimed Wish from 1992.
On social media, the Official Charts profile announced the success of the band's new album.
"The Cure achieved their first official number 1 in 32 years with Songs Of A Lost World ," he wrote.
Lead singer Robert Smith also celebrated the band's achievement and thanked the fans who contributed directly to the project's success.
“It’s incredibly encouraging and genuinely comforting to feel such a wonderful reaction to the release of Songs Of A Lost World . To everyone who bought, listened to, loved, and believed in us over the years, thank you so much.”
According to the Official Charts, the band's new album also reached the top of vinyl sales in the last seven days in independent stores in the United Kingdom.
