Third day of Rock Am Ring is cancelled

Rock Am Ring takes place in Germany

The German festival Rock Am Ring, which took place this past weekend, canceled its final day of shows after a lightning strike injured more than 80 people on Friday. Eight people were in serious condition.

The event continued on Saturday but was interrupted after a storm began. Later, organizers announced that the third day of shows would not take place, as local authorities withdrew the festival's license due to a lack of assurances of public safety.

This is the second time lightning has struck the festival. This year, the audience was 92,000 people and the headliners were Black Sabbath, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Volbeat.
