Guns N' Roses' lead singer sang "Rock the Rock" in the episode.
In 2018, Axl Rose made an unusual appearance on New Looney Tunes . The story shows the Guns N' Roses vocalist saving Earth from an asteroid by singing the song "Rock the Rock" . Now, the episode's writers, Rob Janas and Kevin Fleming , have explained how the idea came about.
Janas and Fleming went on the Appetite for Distortion and revealed that they got the idea after watching a show from Not in This Lifetime and realizing that it started with the Looney Tunes theme.
“We have a whiteboard in our office and we always write different ideas on this board, and I think one idea had been sitting there for a while and we just hadn’t noticed it, and that idea was the Looney Tunes gang having to destroy an asteroid,”
During the process of creating the episode, they thought Axl Rose was "the only one who can stop an asteroid" because "he's powerful." "The only thing more powerful than a laser beam is rock and roll!"
Fleming further added that they considered inviting Steven Tyler from Aerosmith if Axl Rose didn't agree, but the musician's team asked to watch the episode beforehand and they approved.
When Axl showed up to record the vocals, the writers were amazed by the musician. "He couldn't have been better, walking into the studio wearing a Wile E. Coyote t-shirt and introducing himself to everyone." Watch the vocalist's performance below.
