The band's sound was called Death Metal
The creators of The Simpsons admitted their mistake in referring to Judas Priest's sound as Death Metal in the series and came up with an innovative way to redeem themselves with the band. The "apology" to Metal fans and the band came in the episode following the band's appearance on the show.
In the episode where Judas Priest appears , playing a parody of "Breaking The Law," the band is referred to as Death Metal twice. First, shortly before the song begins, a character says, "There's only one way to get fugitives out of a building: playing Death Metal." Shortly after, a member of the consulate says, "The Swedes love Death Metal!"
After the episode, the series received several criticisms from the Metal community, explaining that Judas Priest is not a Death Metal band. In the following episode, which aired this week, one of the introductory scenes showed Bart repeatedly writing on the school blackboard: "Judas Priest is not Death Metal".
