The Rolling Stones will be honored by Royal Mail, the British postal service, with a set of 12 stamps to mark the band's 60th anniversary.
Eight of these special stamps will be issued featuring images from the group's most famous performances, including their 1969 show in London's Hyde Park and a concert at the 1976 Knebworth Festival. The other four stamps will be available in miniature sheet format, featuring two photos of the band together and two of their world tour posters.
The stamps were created in collaboration with Mick Jagger, Ronnie Wood , and Keith Richards and will be available for purchase starting January 20th at this link.
David Gold , director of public affairs and policy at Royal Mail, said in a press release: “Few bands in rock history have managed to carve out a career as rich and expansive as that of the Rolling Stones. They have created some of the most iconic and inspiring albums in modern music, with groundbreaking live performances to match.”
Besides the Rolling Stones, other bands have been honored in the same way, such as The Beatles in 2007, Pink Floyd in 2016, and Queen in 2020.
