The Rolling Stones recently released their highly anticipated album Hackney Diamonds , which reached number one on the UK album charts for the eleventh time in the band's career, matching a feat previously achieved by The Beatles .

According to data published by Official Charts , the veteran rock 'n' roll band sold 72,200 copies of the album in its first week. In addition to topping the album sales chart, Hackney Diamonds also had the third-highest sales week of 2023 in the UK.

Other relevant figures for the Stones in the UK charts relate to the number of albums at the top of the charts: considering only studio albums, the band has been number one with 11 albums throughout their career, a feat achieved by only three other artists in history: The Beatles, Robbie Williams and Springsteen.

If compilations, re-releases, and live albums are also considered, the Stones equal Robbie Williams with 14 number-one albums, behind only the Beatles, who have 16 in total.

Packed with special guest appearances, Hackney Diamonds is the Stones' first album of new material in 18 years and the group's first album since the death of drummer Charlie Watts .
