The show quickly sold out, and the band added another session which was full within days. On the day of the show, some fans arrived three hours early to secure the best spot for this historic event!

There was a hard rock band from São Paulo in the early 2000s, inspired by the best hard rock of the 70s and 80s in Brazil and around the world, that brought back theatrical rock and, above all, the DIY to bands of this genre. This band was called Exxótica and was formed by Daniel Iasbeck (guitar/vocals), "Reverendo" Marcelo Rossi (bass/vocals) and the mysterious drummer Espectro. The band was a songwriting machine, always in Portuguese, and a production powerhouse!

Several excellent albums made with sheer grit, DVDs, music videos, a video game soundtrack, distribution through newsstands (earning gold and platinum records, etc.), phases as a quartet (periods when guitarists Fábio Hoffmann and Boris, o Louco, were part of the band), bombastic shows in various parts of the country... However, after the promotional cycle of the underrated album "Jogos de Azar: Sexta Rodada" (Games of Chance: Sixth Round), the band ended its activities.

During this hiatus, Daniel Iasbeck produced bands and recorded an album as a full member of the historic band Secos & Molhados. Marcelo Rossi recorded an EP with his solo band, under the name Reverendo, in addition to producing an excellent documentary about the history of Brazilian rock, available on YouTube.

Then, in 2014, due to the insistence of fans on Exxótica's official Facebook page, Daniel and Marcelo reunited and, with a new Espectro holding the drumsticks, orchestrated the band's return.

October 25, 2014 – Estúdio Espaço Som in São Paulo – was the date of the much-talked-about return. A small space (capacity around 100 people), but with a fairly reasonable infrastructure for the event. Once again, they rolled up their sleeves and started selling tickets online. Result: the show scheduled for 6 PM quickly sold out, and the band opened another session at 8:30 PM on the same day, which was also full within a few days! On the day of the show, some fans arrived 3 hours early to secure the best spot for this historic event!

Exxótica has a unique discography, full of great "lost" songs, and deserves its place in the sun.

With such a positive response, the trio took to the stage energized by the audience with the hit "Eu Mesmo " (from the album "IV"), driving the crowd wild! Daniel showed he was in top form, both vocally and on the guitar. Reverendo remains charismatic and communicative, in addition to playing and singing very well. In fact, the chemistry between the two is fundamental to the band, and it was clear in this show that when they're at their peak, no one can beat them! It's also necessary to mention that the new Espectro, or mini-Espectro as he's nicknamed due to his age and size, plays like a seasoned pro and I believe he's going to make waves.

The show continued with the bonus track from the compilation “Arquivo”, Poder Tão Pouco e Querer Demais , which proved to be a powerful live track, perhaps deserving a better place in the band's discography. From then on, a collection of hits followed, including Boca do Lixo, Não Sou de Ferro, Gato Preto, and Por Você , thrilling the audience who sang along enthusiastically with the band and didn't let the energy drop, even when some technical problems caused issues with Daniel's guitar.

The set continued, alternating between well-known songs and some that received less attention, such as songs from the aforementioned album "Jogos de Azar," showing how Exxótica has a unique discography, full of good "lost" songs, and that it is still relevant and, therefore, deserves its place in the sun.

The last two songs, perhaps the group's best-known tracks, brought the house down.

The last two songs, perhaps the group's best-known tracks, brought the house down. We're talking about the audacious " Meia Noite/Sexta-Feira" and the excellent " Eu Quero Deixar (Você Fugir De Mim) ," which I never understood why it didn't get airplay on mainstream radio – I always considered it a ready-made hit for the masses! During this closing set, for the first time in the band's history (that I know of), one of the members was "unmasked" on stage, revealing the current identity of the drummer Espectro: the young Sergio Marchezoni.

Farewells to the audience and a break before the next show, where the few remaining tickets sold out quickly, mainly due to the revelation that the second show would have a different setlist, with at least 30% different songs. Unfortunately, I couldn't attend this second show, but judging by the buzz, it was also a huge success!

Proof that this comeback is a resounding success is the announcement that, on December 20, 2014, Exxótica will be launching their new single, "Não me cobra ," at the same venue. This single will be featured on their upcoming comeback EP. This event is highly recommended for fans of the band or anyone who enjoys Brazilian rock and roll in general.
