"I hope there's a long future for us," said the lead singer of The Rapture
Formed in 1998 by vocalist Luke Jenner and drummer Vito Roccoforte , The Rapture is back.
The dance-punk band rose to fame in 2003 with the track "House Of Jealous Lovers," followed by their debut album Echoes . They toured in 2004 alongside Franz Ferdinand .
Jenner left the band in 2008 after the death of his mother and the birth of his son, but returned months later. Bassist Mattie Safer left the band in 2009. The group disbanded in 2014.
They will now hold a reunion on April 30th at Brooklyn Music Hall, and on May 4th at the Just Like Heaven Festival.
“It’s been a difficult journey trying to figure out how to be a father and a husband. That always felt more important than being on stage in front of anyone,” Jenner wrote on Facebook. “We went to therapy, we talked, and it’s still kind of awkward. But I couldn’t do it if I didn’t feel like it would be personal progress.”
"Anyway, I hope we have a long future ahead of us and that we can build something new. Maybe you'll run into us again along the way," he concluded.
