The year that none of us will ever forget is drawing to a close, and for Joe Berchtold , President of Live Nation , one of the largest companies responsible for major shows around the world, the possibility of satisfying our longing for concerts will be possible by mid-2021.
Berchtold's belief was shared during an interview for CNBC's Squawk Alley last Monday, the 7th, and goes against the belief of some health experts at the beginning of the global pandemic , but fits with the positive news regarding the start of vaccinations in some countries around the world, including the United States and the United Kingdom.
“We are beginning to see much more clearly what the path to returning to live shows is, and certainly with a lot of confidence about that return to live performances. In the key markets of the United States and Western Europe, our expectations remain that next summer [winter in the Southern Hemisphere], we will be back with our big shows in outdoor venues, our amphitheaters here in the United States, festivals globally. We will be able to do these shows,” he states.
Regarding safety protocols for attendees entering shows, with measures such as temperature checks, hand sanitizer, and social distancing, Joe states that the company expects such protocols will not be necessary given the apparent progress of vaccines worldwide.
