The Australian instrumental progressive rock trio The Omnific has returned with a new single. “Phat Mackerel” is the band’s first release since their 2021 Escapades

By swapping out the guitars for a second bass, bassists Matt Fack ( Fackrell ) and Toby Peterson-Stewart , supported by drummer Jerome Lematua , blend progressive rock, djent, funk, and synthesizer-driven soundscapes.

“Phat Mackerel” is a play on Matt’s last name, a nickname that has followed him throughout his life. The track comes with a music video directed by Jamie McVicker , which you can watch at the end of this article.
