The Offspring is a band known and celebrated for the lighthearted and irreverent tone of their music. Nine years after their last album, the group returned with the same lightheartedness with Let The Bad Times Roll , but without being afraid to address more political themes.
In an interview with Veja magazine , guitarist Noodles Jair Bolsonaro 's government . "I think Brazil is going through something very similar to what we went through. Bolsonaro and Trump are very, very similar," he observed. "I don't know how we elected these leaders. I think both Brazil and the United States deserve better than this."
In the title track of their new album, The Offspring takes a jab at the stance of separatist world leaders regarding social problems, especially the coronavirus pandemic, with a pointed dig at former US President Donald Trump . “Mexicans, blacks and Jews / It’s all settled for you / I’ll build a wall and let you decide / Between apathy and suicide,” the lyrics say.
