An official documentary about Paul Di'Anno is in development. Titled " Di'Anno: Iron Maiden's Lost Singer Iron Maiden vocalist, who performed with the band from 1977 to 1981, passed away on October 21, 2024 , at the age of 66.
The director is Wes Orshoski . He has previously directed biographical films about figures such as Lemmy Kilmister and The Damned .
In a post published on the anniversary of the singer's death, Orshoski commented on the progress of the documentary's production. According to him, the first recordings date back to 2017, and for many years there was no material to capture due to Paul's health condition.
“I started filming this documentary in 2017 and, for years, there wasn’t much to capture. Paul was in a wheelchair, desperately waiting for surgeries that doctors in the UK refused to approve. When the pandemic hit, Paul’s health plummeted. And that’s when everything changed for him and for my film. Kastro Pergjoni , owner of the Cart & Horses in London, launched a crowdfunding campaign to help him take control of his own destiny. Maiden fans around the world donated. Croatian Maiden superfan/writer Stjepan Juras urged Paul to seek treatment in Zagreb, where he could be treated at affordable prices. Paul agreed. Without a doubt, Kastro and Stjepan not only changed Paul’s life, they prolonged it. My film largely documents their efforts, which were undoubtedly responsible for almost all the good moments at the end of his life,” he wrote [transcription via Blabbermouth ].
Initial screenings will be restricted to friends and family of Paul Di'Anno.
"Starting with a screening for friends and family on Tuesday, October 28th in London, Di'Anno: Iron Maiden's Lost Singer will begin its European film festival tour this month, with a wider release coming next year," he concluded.
