And the new generation of women in music continues to impress: after Nandi Bushell garnered fans from the top echelons of world rock, the punk band The Linda Lindas is going viral for its edgy sound, attracting the attention of big names that earned the young quartet a contract with Epitaph Records , Variety reports.
The artists gained attention after performing "Racist Sexist Boy," a track that recounts an experience lived by the 10-year-old drummer, Mila , in which a boy told her at school that his father had asked him to stay away from Chinese people, and after she told her classmate that she was Chinese, the boy distanced himself from her.
riot grrrl atmosphere of the young girls, aged between 10 and 16, caught the attention of Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine , Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers , Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth , and Brett Gurewitz of Bad Religion , who were impressed by the girls' performance.
