The Javelins were founded in the early 60s, before Ian Gillan joined Deep Purple. “These contemporary recordings (2018) of The Javelins were taken from our set lists, circa 1963, when I was 18 years old. Now, some years later, I have the privilege and joy of working with my old companions from the original group: Gordon Fairminer (guitar); Tony Tacon (rhythm guitar); Tony Whitfield (bass); Keith Roach (drums), as we make a full-length LP,” said Gillan.
