The HU released this Friday, the 31st, the new version of “Black Thunder” alongside Serj Tankian and Daniel Laskiewicz , from Bad Wolves . The music video, directed by Michael Lombardi, can be seen at the end of this article.
“I had discovered The Hu’s music from a YouTube video a friend sent me and was instantly impressed by their powerful and delightful fusion of folk and Mongolian metal. So when they invited me, I was intrigued,” revealed the System Of A Down (via Theprp ).
“I appreciate the pride with which they represent their culture through music. This led me down a historical rabbit hole between Mongols and Armenians. Genghis Khan conquered Armenia along with the rest of Europe, but the Mongols also later joined Armenia to fight against Turkish invaders. I’m glad to have had the chance to collaborate and learn all of this in the process.”
Laskiewicz commented: “Working on this new version was a lot of fun and different from what I normally do. Their vision and voices… they are special. This is more than music, it’s a movement, it’s culture, and I’m honored to have been given the opportunity to be a part of it.”
Previously, with the participation of William DuVall from Alice In Chains , the Mongolian band released their version of " This Is Mongol ".
These songs are two of the seven that are part of the deluxe edition of the album Rumble Of Thunder (2022), which will be available on June 30th via Better Noise Music . Pre-orders are now available .
