The designer has worked with Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, and Anthrax

English artist Storm Thorgerson, known for his numerous famous rock album covers, died of cancer yesterday at the age of 69.

Thorgerson is recognized for having worked on iconic album covers such as Pink Floyd's "The Dark Side of the Moon," Led Zeppelin's "Houses of the Holy," and Anthrax's "Stomp 442," among others.

As a video director, Thorgerson worked with Robert Plant on "Big Log" and with Bruce Dickinson on "Tattooed Millionaire".

To create the cover art, Thorgerson said he sought to translate what the artist wanted to say in the songs. "I aim to be unsettling, but in a gentle way.".
