The Doors release original demo of “Riders on the Storm” to celebrate 50 years of 'LA Woman'

Band releases commemorative box set with unreleased material in December.

The Doors ' album LA Woman celebrated its 50th anniversary this April. To commemorate this, the band will release a special edition of the album with previously unreleased content, including the original demo of "Riders of the Storm".

At the time, the band was without a producer and was working with sound engineer Bruce Botnick . The demo released this Thursday, the 2nd, is the "oldest known version" of the iconic track, recorded at Sunset Sound Studios.

The LA Woman 50th Anniversary Deluxe Version box set consists of 3 CDs and a vinyl record, featuring a remastered version of the album and two hours of unreleased content, divided between rehearsal recordings, some blues covers, and other demos, such as "Hyacinth House".

A few months after the album's release, vocalist Jim Morrison died at the age of 27. Journalist David Fricke , responsible for the in-depth exploration of the album's meaning that accompanies the 50th-anniversary commemorative book, describes LA Woman as "rebirth, conquest, and final act, all at once."

The deluxe edition will be released on December 3rd and is already available for pre-order; access it here .
