The bassist said it was important for them not to censor the band's craziness.

Nikki Sixx revealed that the film adaptation of the Mötley Crüe , The Dirt , does not intend to downplay the band's antics. The film is based on the book The Dirt – Confessions of the World's Most Notorious Rock Band .

Sixx explained: “Netflix said, ‘Make a movie that reflects the book.’ And Jeff Tremaine [director] said, ‘I like punk rock and heavy metal and I want to make this movie based on the book.’ Everyone supported the idea.”

The bassist added: “It was very important for us not to censor anything. We know there were scenes in the NWA Straight Outta Compton that were deleted. They didn't want to be portrayed that way. And I don't know if they toned anything down in the Queen . With us, you have four outrageous characters and it was important that we didn't change anything.”

The Dirt will premiere on Netflix on March 22nd. The soundtrack will arrive on the same day and will feature Crüe classics, as well as three new songs and a cover of Madonna . The first unreleased track, "The Dirt" featuring Machine Gun Kelly , has already been released .
