The Darkness has released the music video for their single “Heart Explodes,” from their highly anticipated album Easter Is Cancelled , available October 4th.
“Heart Explodes” is a grand mini-rock opera, in which The Darkness explores the multifaceted pains of the heart related to the harshness, difficulties, and changes in relationships throughout life.
The band's leader, Justin Hawkins, explains: “It’s about the desperation of change. Having to reassess your life and what you’re relying on. It’s like that feeling when you just want to swim and keep going. Wanting to be enveloped by something that will gradually knock you down. If you really want to survive that process, you can. We’ve all been there – people who say they haven’t are lying.”
Guitarist Dan Hawkins adds: “The difference between the sadness of The Darkness and the sadness of other bands is that we don’t let ourselves be sucked into it. Even though it’s sad, there’s still a way to play with it.”
