O Maldito , a rising national talent from Curitiba, released the physical version of their new self-titled album in Portuguese on June 22nd. However, the digital version is scheduled for official release on June 30th.

The launch took place at Let's Rock, a pioneering store located in the Pinheiro Lima gallery in the historic center of Curitiba. During the event, it was revealed that the music video for "Versos Íntimos," which adapts the work of Augusto dos Anjos , was filmed at the same location.

Additionally, the musicians are revitalizing the national cultural memory for new generations. It is worth remembering that, in 1912, the poet from Paraíba, Augusto dos Anjos, gave life to his feelings of pessimism and criticism of erudition in the work "Versos Íntimos" (Intimate Verses). It is opportune to highlight that, in 2024, it will be 112 years since the publication of this iconic sonnet, a period in which the band took the opportunity to release their eponymous album, inspired by the depth and human duality explored by the poet.

According to Rubão Zampieri , vocalist and bassist, “we have always been great admirers of Augusto dos Anjos' work, whom we consider one of the great 'cursed' figures of Brazilian literature. By using his poem as the basis for the song's lyrics, we are very pleased with the result.”

About the band O Maldito

The band O Maldito was formed in 2017 in Curitiba and consists of Rubão Zampieri, Jefferson Moraes and Toni Antônio on guitars and Vilmar 'Koreia' dos Santos on drums.

Additionally, despite being relatively new, the band already displays remarkable musical maturity and cohesion. Their sound is a fusion of heavy guitar riffs with poetry in Portuguese, addressing themes such as urban chronicle, existentialism, social and political critiques, as well as individual experiences and nihilism, reflected in their debut album, O Maldito .
