The Cure announced that they will release a new album, however, it will be in the form of remixes. Mixes of a Lost World is scheduled for release on June 13th.
The album will feature reinterpretations of tracks from Songs of a Lost World band 's most recent album and their first since 2008. More information here .
Notable participants include: Chino Moreno ( Deftones ), Trentemøller , Mogwai , Orbital , The Twilight Sad , Daniel Avery , Mura Masa , Âm e, Shanti Celeste , among others.
All proceeds from sales and streams go to War Child UK. The organization works to protect children affected by armed conflict.
The Cure's frontman spoke about the remix album
In a statement [via Ultimate Classic Rock ], Robert Smith commented:
"Right after Christmas, I received some unsolicited remixes of tracks from Songs of a Lost World — and I simply loved them. The Cure has a long history with various styles of electronic music, and I was curious to see how the entire album would sound reinterpreted by other people."
“That curiosity led us on an incredible journey through the eight original tracks, revisited by 24 artists and featuring wonderful remixes — and the result exceeded all my expectations. Donating the project's royalties to War Child makes this release even more special.”
Shortly after the announcement, The Cure released two songs from their remix album: Four Tet and a "cinematic remix" of 'I Can Never Say Goodbye', recorded by Paul Oakenfold .
