The Casanovas bring hard rock ballads into the present with the single "The Lover".

The new song is part of 'Backseat Rhythms', the band's fifth album.

The Casanovas released their new single “The Lover” this Friday, the 28th, as part of their fifth studio album, Backseat Rhythms , announced for August. Following the classic hard rock and arena sound already known from the band, the new song brings classic ballads of the genre into the present.

Following the single “The Devil In Me” , in the best AC/DC style and tone, the new song draws from the wellspring of Kiss. Despite having all these evident references to 70s rock in the construction of the songs, The Casanovas' sound is original, not sounding like a mere copy of the past.

Like the new album, the single "The Lover" was mixed by legendary American producer Ron Nevison, whose resume includes classics like Quadrophenia by The Who and Physical Graffiti by Led Zeppelin , as well as production work for Thin Lizzy, UFO , and Kiss , among others.

The Casanovas' new album, Backseat Rhythms, will be released on August 25, 2023. The project is the successor to the acclaimed 2020 Reptilian Overlord

About The Casanovas

The band The Casanovas was formed in 1999. They were quickly caught up in the early 21st-century rock craze, initially sharing the bill with the relatively unknown White Stripes before touring Europe with The Datsuns. Later came SXSW, Triple J, Big Day Out, and shows/tours with Motörhead, Mötley Crüe, The Darkness, The Living End, The Black Crowes, Redd Kross, Airbourne, and others.

However, they always had deeper roots; they were both The Powder Monkeys and AC/DC, and were a fusion of two great local traditions – hard rock punk and classic rock – so naturally, they held on when rock was no longer in vogue. Nowadays, it's like the early days of Tote, and with new drummer Brett Wolfenden on board (Wolfie is a longtime collaborator of Davey Lane from You Am I, and has played with Jim Keays and Todd Rundgren), joining vocalist/guitarist Tommy Boyce and longtime bassist Damo Campbell, they are finding even greater joy in playing.
