In 1966, Bob Dylan released "Blonde On Blonde," the first double rock album in history! He probably didn't even imagine the revolution he was about to cause, opening the doors to an endless list of double albums released by great bands over the years.

As with most of our Top 11 lists, the task here is very difficult, made even more so by the fact that the concept of "double album" inevitably brings to mind vinyl, and it's not always easy to remember that, for example, The Clash's great "London Calling" is a double album (although it's a single CD).

In any case, we strived to put together a list that best represents our musical tastes. So check out our list of the best double albums in the history of Rock and Metal and leave your own list in the comments!
