The Batman is one of the biggest movie premieres of 2022. Starring Robert Pattinson , the new film about the hero chose Nirvana for its soundtrack – and put the track back on the rock charts.
According to Billboard , the song entered the charts for the first time after the release of the first trailer for The Batman . Since the film's worldwide release on the 4th, the track has received 3.1 million streams in the United States alone, marking a 734% increase compared to the previous four days. On Spotify, the song became the fifth most listened to daily in the United States and is in 16th position in the global ranking of the streaming platform.
The song is part of the classic Nevermind (1991), which celebrated its 30th anniversary last year, and was released as the penultimate track on side B of the album, far from the success of singles like "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and "Come As You Are," for example.
Kurt Cobain was one of the references for director Matt Reeves' vision in the new Batman film. "Instead of doing the playboy version of Bruce Wayne that we've seen before, there was another version, [of someone who] had gone through a great tragedy and become reclusive. So I started making this connection with (...) the idea of this fictional version of Kurt Cobain in a somewhat dilapidated mansion," he said .
