Testament has yet to choose a drummer to replace Gene Hoglan , who left the band in January of this year after 25 years with them.

According to guitarist Alex Skolnick , the band will not be holding auditions for the position. “I think at this point, it might be crazy to announce that the band is holding auditions. We would be overwhelmed with [the number of] applications,” he said in an interview with the Meet Me for Coffee Podcast (via Ultimate Guitar ).

Instead, Testament will choose from a "shortlist" of well-known drummers and rising stars from more recent generations. "We won't have a problem. I mean, I think everyone being considered is very good. No doubt about it," he continued.

Skolnick did not disclose the band's progress in analyzing the options on this list, nor did he reveal any names among the possible replacements, but the choice of a new drummer shouldn't take long, considering that "there may be a tour soon.".
