In a statement posted on their social media this Friday, the 21st, Testament announced that they are parting ways with their longtime drummer, Gene Hoglan. Hoglan had been with the band since 1997.

According to the statement, the separation was amicable and is due to a scheduling conflict between the drummer and the rest of the group. Gene's personal commitments to his solo career clashed with the rescheduling of Testament's shows after two years of pandemic. "Instead of rescheduling Testament's dates (again) or having Gene cancel his own plans, we amicably decided to go our separate ways," the band wrote.

The group reassured fans that “there is no drama” between the two parties and thanked Gene for his long journey with Testament. “Gene Hoglan will always be part of the family and we ask that you all join us in wishing him the best of luck on his path! Also, rest assured that we will deliver a quality addition to Testament and will reveal it soon!” they promised.

Gene Hoglan participated in the albums Demonic (1997), Dark Roots of Earth (2012) and Brotherhood of the Snake (2016).
