Last year's edition featured Black Sabbath as the headliner.
UPDATE 03/06: The police have given the green light for the Festival to continue today after lunch and tomorrow (Saturday and Sunday). In a message on Facebook, the event organizers thanked the fans for their cooperation with the investigations.
Organizers of the Rock Am Ring Festival, one of Germany's largest music festivals, received a warning from police to completely evacuate the venue due to a threat of a terrorist attack.
Everyone present at the venue for the event, which was scheduled to begin today and extend through the weekend, was instructed to leave the premises immediately. The concert venue is a former airbase near the city of Nuremberg. In addition to fans, the evacuation order also applies to artists and event staff.
This year's edition includes bands such as Rammstein, Prophets Of Rage, Alter Bridge, Five Finger Death Punch, Skindred, Rival Sons, In Flames, Clutch and System Of A Down, and is expected to draw an audience of around 80,000 people.
An official statement on the Rock Am Ring website reads: “Due to the terrorist threat, the police have advised us to suspend the festival. We ask all attendees to leave the festival grounds calmly and in an orderly fashion, heading towards the exits and camping areas. We must assist the police investigation.”
All visitors will be kept informed of developments through our social media, radio, and loudspeakers. We expect the festival to continue tomorrow. Thank you for your cooperation.”.
