The track chosen by Jack Black and Kyle Gass was “Keep On Loving You” by REO Speedwagon . Previously, the duo had released a version of Britney Spears to be included in the soundtrack of Kung Fu Panda 4 (2024).

The hiatus occurred after a comment involving Donald Trump
Last July, during a show in Sydney, Gass made a statement involving the current president of the United States. At the time, Donald Trump was the victim of an assassination attempt during a rally.
The guitarist's comment alluded to the incident where, while blowing out candles, he made a wish to "not miss Trump next time." This referred to the gunshot wound to the president's right ear. However, the statement was poorly received, and the band received a barrage of criticism.
As a result, the band decided to cancel the remaining tour dates and pause all creative plans for the tour.
However, in August, Jack commented again on the band's future , saying that he "would need to take a break," just as it was a "work of art" and "my baby."
Although Gass had also stated on Instagram that his phrase "was highly inappropriate, dangerous, and a terrible mistake," the musician chose to delete it days later.
