Last Sunday, Tenacious D won the Grammy for Best Metal Performance for their rendition of Ronnie James Dio 's "The Last In Line ." The band, as well as Dio's widow, Wendy Dio, commented on the award.
Jack Black and Kyle Grass paid tribute to Dio: “This Grammy is entirely about Ronnie James Dio. We are so proud to have known Ronnie, and this award is further proof of his greatness .
Wendy Dio recounted that as soon as the award was given, Jack Black called her: “Jack Black called me excitedly to tell me he won the award. My only sadness is that Dio isn't alive to see this happen .
Anthrax's cover of Neon Knights was also nominated in the same category. Both tracks are part of the album "This Is Your Life," a tribute to Ronnie James Dio.
