Tenacious D cancels tour after comments about the shooting of Donald Trump.

The group apologized for a comment made during a show in Sydney and announced the cancellation of future shows.

Tenacious D has cancelled its current tour and announced that “all future creative plans are on hold.” This came about because of a controversial comment made by Kyle Gass regarding the attempted assassination of Donald Trump , the former president and now Republican presidential candidate in the United States.

During the band's last show in Sydney on July 14th, Jack Black sang "Happy Birthday" to his bandmate Gass, who was turning 64 that day. Before blowing out the candles, the guitarist made a wish: "Don't miss Trump next time," referring to the gunshot that hit the former president's right ear during a rally the previous Saturday, July 13th.

The comment, however, did not go down so well in some parts of the internet, leading to a wave of criticism against the band. In a post made this Tuesday, the 16th, on his Instagram account, Jack Black said that he “would never tolerate hate speech or encourage any form of violence.” He added: “I don’t feel it’s appropriate to continue the Tenacious D tour and all future creative plans are on hold.”

Furthermore, Gass also used his social media to apologize for what happened. “The line I improvised on stage Sunday night in Sydney was highly inappropriate, dangerous, and a terrible mistake. I do not tolerate violence of any kind, in any form, against anyone. What happened was a tragedy and I am very sorry,” the musician wrote on social media.
