After denying the existence of the pandemic, Ted Nugent announced that he had tested positive for COVID-19.
In a live broadcast on Monday , the 19th, Nugent appeared breathless and coughing to reveal that he had tested positive. “I have an announcement to make. Everyone told me I shouldn’t,” he began (via Blabbermouth ). “I’ve had flu-like symptoms for the last ten days. I thought I was dying. Really a disaster. I tested positive today, I caught this Chinese shit.”
The guitarist described symptoms such as headaches and body aches. “What a nuisance. I literally could barely get out of bed for the past few days, but I managed (…). And I officially tested positive for COVID-19 today,” he continued in his account.
The musician had expressed disbelief in the use of masks and the effectiveness of vaccines against the virus in statements on social media. "Why didn't we shut everything down during COVID-19 until -18?", he questioned in early April .
In other denialist statements, the 72-year-old musician discredited the number of deaths reported by health authorities and refused to get vaccinated because "nobody knows what's in it." Despite these beliefs, Nugent is in quarantine during his recovery period.
