Ted Gardner, co-founder of Lollapalooza, dies at age 74.

The manager also handled the careers of bands like Tool and Jane's Addiction.

Entrepreneur Ted Gardner, co-founder of the Lollapalooza festival, died on December 28, 2021, at the age of 74.

The news was confirmed by musician Anton Newcombe , from the band The Brian Jonestown Massacre , which had been managed by Gardner since 2004. “I am sad to report that Ted Gardner, our manager, has passed away (…) surrounded by his loving family. We will miss a great manager, mentor and friend,” wrote the artist.

As Billboard , Ted Gardner had over four decades of experience in the music industry. In addition to co-founding the Lollapalooza festival, created in 1991 alongside Perry Farrell of Jane's Addiction , the veteran worked as the band's manager, as well as for Tool, Queens of the Stone Age , and The Verve .
