Tears For Fears calls for the end of patriarchy in "Break The Man"; listen now.

The single is part of 'The Tipping Point', the band's first album in 17 years

Tears For Fears is back with their first album in 17 years! In “Break The Man,” the third single from the project, the British band critiques masculinity and patriarchy.

According to vocalist Curt Smith , who co-wrote the track with Charlton Pettus , the song is about “a strong woman dismantling the patriarchy,” as he explained in a statement to Rolling Stone . “I feel that many of the problems we have as a country – and even globally – stem from male domination to some degree. It’s a song about a woman who is strong enough to break the man. To me, that would be an answer to many problems in the world: a better balance between masculine and feminine,” he explained.

The band had already released the tracks “No Small Thing” and “The Tipping Point,” the title track of Tears For Fears' seventh studio album. The successor to Everybody Loves a Happy Ending (2004) will be released on February 25, 2022.
