Taylor Momsen of The Pretty Reckless reveals details of her last conversation with Chris Cornell.

“I gave him a big hug and said, ‘Let’s do this again sometime,’” she recalls.

Pretty Reckless vocalist , Taylor Momsen Soundgarden and Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell , the night before his body was found in a Detroit hotel on May 18, 2017.

In an interview with station 95.5 KLOS , the artist stated that she was one of the last people to see Cornell alive, after the end of Soundgarden's tour with The Pretty Reckless.

“He [Chris] usually left right after the show, and I was kind of waiting at the back door knowing it was going to be the last night of the tour, and I wanted to thank him for anything and everything I was going to say,” she recalls. “And I did, I got to talk to him as he was leaving. We had a nice, quick chat, I gave him a big hug, and said, ‘Let’s do this again sometime,’ and then we continued with the night, relaxed backstage with Matt [Cameron] and Kim [Thayil] and Ben [Shepherd] and the rest of our band.”

The following morning, Momsen, like the rest of the world, learned of the tragic news and refused to believe it had actually happened. “I didn’t believe it, I think that’s the right word. I was convinced everyone was lying to me and that it was a horrible joke. And it wasn’t. That was kind of the beginning of a downward spiral for me, where I wasn’t emotionally prepared to deal with that kind of trauma and shock.”
